The Beginnings
In honor of deer season kicking off, I thought I’d share my own journey into hunting and how it’s led our family into the world of breeding. The photo is pretty iconic in Zach and I’s relationship. It was the first time I would sit in a tree stand, freeze my rear off, and wait for a deer to pop out at the right moment. It was a pretty classic hunt, if you know anything about deer hunting. A decent size buck stepped out just at last light and Zach let his arrow fly. We came back early the next morning with my father-in law and brother in-law and found him laying in a draw. My skepticism wasn’t quite gone until I was able to help process the deer and then use it for meat in our freezer.
So what does deer hunting have to do with dog breeding? Well, for me, deer hunting was my gateway into pheasant hunting, quail hunting, and learning more about using dogs as hunting companions. Zach’s family has been doing this for his entire life, and now BOTH of us have a desire to continue that on with our family and in our own way. Our dogs are a part of our lifestyle for us and for our kids. We want to breed and raise them to be hunters and companions for life. Hunting isn’t just a sport for us, it’s a lifestyle to help us be active, enjoy creation, and eat food that’s good for us. We hope that you’ll join us in that journey whether it’s following our story or getting one of our puppies!
